Shinobi's Up-voted Monsters

  • Lich Solitary, Magical, Intelligent, Cautious, Hoarder, Construct
Magical Force (d10+3 damage, ignores armor) 16 HP 5 Armor
    Near, Far

“At the end, they give you a scroll and a jeweled medallion to commemorate your achievements. Grand Master of Abjuration, I was called, then. Old man. Weak and wizened and just a bit too senile for them—those jealous halfwits. Barely apprentices, and they called themselves The New Council. It makes me sick, or would, if I still could be. They told me it was an honor and I would be remembered forever. It was like listening to my own eulogy. Fitting, in a way, don’t you think? It took me another ten years to learn the rituals and another four to collect the material and you see before you the fruits of my labor. I endure. I live. I will see the death of this age and the dawn of the next. It pains me to have to do this, but, you see, you cannot be permitted to endanger my research. When you meet Death, say hello for me, would you?” Instinct: To un-live

    • Cast a perfected spell of death or destruction
    • Set a ritual or great working into motion
    • Reveal a preparation or plan already completed
This monster is from the core Dungeon World book

  • Spiderhorse Herd, Large
    Kick (d8 damage) 7 HP 0 armor

Spiderhorses are pack-arachnids used by the dwarves to navigate rough terrain. Though not particularly fast, they're much faster at getting up hills and across scree than most animals. Spiderhorses are bred to be docile and not particularly bright. Unfortunately, they still have a self-preservation instinct, so do remember to tie them down before you start making loud noises and waving fiery sticks nearby (unless you want all your gear to go bolting into the night). Instinct: to flee danger

    • Climb an impossibly steep surface
Created by potrace 1.10, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2011 This monster has been edited. Its probably still cool, but its stats may not line up with standard monsters.

    Hand, Far

From the wilds of the far eastern coast it reaches out to the masses through the powers of magic. No one has seen it, but the truths it reveals spread far and wide. Instinct: To expose the truth

    • Reveal something
    • Post about it online
    • Leak something

  • Skirr Solitary, Large, Devious, Hoarder, Construct
Diving attacks (d10+2 damage 3 piercing) 20 HP 3 armor
    Special Qualities: Mummified, Undead

From a distance, it appears as a vulture, slowly circling and closing the distance. But it is so much bigger than it appears... once it closes, its size becomes apparent and the skeletal remains of this horrifying creature descends on the unwary traveler with the whistling approach of a bomb, as its talons rend flesh, bone, and metal alike. Instinct: To hunt prey across the valley

    • Dive into unwitting prey
    • Drop beings from deadly heights
    • Circle ominously
    • Nest in the highlands
