    Death is frequently imagined as a personified force--also known as the Grim Reaper (usually depicted as a berobed skeleton that seems masculine wielding a scythe, although in certain cultures death is perceived as female, and not skeletonized in those cases)--causes the victim's death by coming to collect that person's soul.     Shinji was once an unassuming, yet somewhat perverted Gym instructor at Special K College in the town of Kagemusha, in the Kagemusha Prefecture of Japan. Some years ago (7 as of this writing) Shinji witnessed some tentacle monster attacks on the town, and tried to save some of the victims. He himself was carried off. Due to his perversion, no rescue attempt was mounted. He has come to resent this in the passing years, and seeks any who were involved in the original incident for revenge, and/or perhaps a little pervin'. Instinct: To pay them back for abandoning Him

    Hashihime are intensely jealous spirits who inhabit bridges — in particular, very old and very long bridges. A hashihime may take different forms depending on occasion, however they are commonly depicted wearing white robes, white face-paint, an iron trivet worn as a crown, and carrying five candles. This is a ceremonial outfit used to perform curses. Instinct: To protect those who honor her

    Kage onna are shadows of women which appear projected onto windows and doors when there is no one around to cast them. They appear late at night when the moon is bright, as the paper sliding doors and windows of traditional Japanese homes are particularly good at catching shadows in the moonlight. They usually take the form of a young lady, though occasionally they appear as an old crone with a bell hanging from her neck. Instinct: To signify a haunted place
