Monsters by Alex Norris

  • Burrowing Owl Solitary, Large, Hoarder
    Peck (d10+2 damage 3 piercing) 16 HP 0 armor

It's an owl, right? But it's an owl the size of a really big outhouse. Also, it lives underground and its beak can drill through rock and it frequently surfaces to snag random people and drag them back to its lair. God, pre-Freeze people were dicks. Instinct: to feed

    • Drill through rock or earth
    • Grab someone and drag them to its lair
    • Gobble a dead person whole

  • Ice Wraith Horde, Intelligent
    Claws (d6 damage) 11 HP 0 armor
    Close, Ignores Armor
    Special Qualities: Snow-walk

Legend has it that ice wraiths are the tortured spirits of all those who have frozen to death in the White Wastes. Fast, smart and vicious, ice wraiths strike from the cover of blizzards before vanishing back into the storm. Their only goal is to make sure that the magical cold they carry in them claims all living creatures foolish enough to venture into the Wastes. Instinct: to quench the heat of the living

    • Become one with the blizzard
    • Strike from an unexpected direction

  • Draig Young Group, Large, Devious, Organized
    Stomp (d8+2 damage) 14 HP 1 armor
    Close, Forceful
    Special Qualities: Visually impaired

Six-legged furred alligators, draigs attack to feed themselves or to protect their lair. Draig young aren't quite blind yet and thus cannot fire magical blasts from their eyes; their vision is merely poor, though their sense of smell is excellent. Draig hide is well-known to make high-quality leathers. Instinct: to defend the lair

    • Charge straight at them!
    • Drag a wounded or unconscious creature back to its lair
    • Cry out for help, alerting the others

  • Spiderhorse Herd, Large
    Kick (d8 damage) 7 HP 0 armor

Spiderhorses are pack-arachnids used by the dwarves to navigate rough terrain. Though not particularly fast, they're much faster at getting up hills and across scree than most animals. Spiderhorses are bred to be docile and not particularly bright. Unfortunately, they still have a self-preservation instinct, so do remember to tie them down before you start making loud noises and waving fiery sticks nearby (unless you want all your gear to go bolting into the night). Instinct: to flee danger

    • Climb an impossibly steep surface
